This Privacy Policy applies to both the Jupi and Jupi Novels apps and all related services operated by Bots and Bolts Inc.. By using either app, your data is handled in accordance with this unified policy.
The Jupi App itself, and all the trademarks, copyright, database rights and other intellectual property rights related to it, belong to Bots and Bolts Inc. (Bots and Bolts), a company registered in the United States of America.
Your privacy is important to us. It is Jupi's policy to respect your privacy and comply with any applicable law and regulation regarding any personal information we may collect about you, including via our app, Jupi, and its associated services.
Personal information is any information about you which can be used to identify you. This includes information about you as a person (such as name, address, and date of birth), your devices, payment details, and even information about how you use an app or online service.
In the event our app contains links to third-party sites and services, please be aware that those sites and services have their own privacy policies. After following a link to any third-party content, you should read their posted privacy policy information about how they collect and use personal information. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any of your activities after you leave our app.

Age Restrictions
The App is not directed to children and you may not use our services if you are not at least 18. If you are under the age limit for processing of personal data set by your country, you must not use the App, or your parent or guardian on your behalf must allow it. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from users under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently done so, we will promptly delete that information.
Information We Collect
Information we collect falls into one of two categories: "voluntarily provided" information and "automatically collected" information.
"Voluntarily provided" information refers to any information you knowingly and actively provide us when using our app and its associated services.
"Automatically collected" information refers to any information automatically sent by your device in the course of accessing our app and its associated services.
Log Data
When you access our servers via our app, we may automatically log the standard data provided by your device. It may include your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address, your device type and version, your activity within the app, time and date, and other details about your usage.
Additionally, when you encounter certain errors while using the app, we automatically collect data about the error and the circumstances surrounding its occurrence. This data may include technical details about your device, what you were trying to do when the error happened, and other technical information relating to the problem. You may or may not receive notice of such errors, even in the moment they occur, that they have occurred, or what the nature of the error is. This data may include your device's type and version, screen size, remaining memory, and other technical information as well as automatically grabbed screenshots of the screens you browsed until you messaged us. This error handling is done by Luciq, a third-party service provider and is subject to their own privacy policy. We're not responsible for their actions or the data they collect.
Please be aware that while this information may not be personally identifying by itself, it may be possible to combine it with other data to personally identify individual persons.
Device Data
Our app may access and collect data via your device's in-built tools, such as: Storage, photos and/or media.
When you install the app or use your device's tools within the app, we request permission to access this information. The specific data we collect can depend on the individual settings of your device and the permissions you grant when you install and use the app.
Personal Information
The following is a list of the types of personal information we collect and how we use it:
- Your profile picture (to be publicly displayed)
- Your email address (to be used for login and account recovery)
- Your name (private, not displayed publicly. This is used for letting the AI characters know your name)
- Your username / nickname (public, displayed to other users. This is used for identifying other users within the app)
- Your gender (private, not displayed publicly. This is used for the AI characters to know your gender)
- Your age group (private, not displayed publicly. This is used for preventing access to minors and for analytics purposes)
- Your date of birth (private, not displayed publicly. This is used for age verification and access control)
- A unique device identifier (private, not displayed publicly. This is used for linking your account across devices)
- Your rough location (private, not displayed publicly. This is used analytics purposes)
- Your purchase history within the app (private, not displayed publicly)
- Your interests (private, not displayed publicly. This is used for the the app to provide you with more relevant content)
- Automatic screenshots from Jupi if you reach us via Luciq (private, not displayed publicly. This is used for error handling and analytics purposes)
- Messages sent to AI characters. We may log and retain these messages tied to your account. Our automated systems, and where necessary authorized personnel, may review them for safety, abuse prevention, content moderation, regulatory compliance, providing and improving product features (such as conversation history, memory, search, recommendations, and personalization), debugging, analytics, and improving the user experience. See Conversation Monitoring and Safety Records below.
- Images your upload to the app for character creation, AI image generation and reference.
- Voice recordings (private, used for speech-to-text and AI voice call features. These are processed by third-party providers as described below)
- Age verification data (private, collected when you verify your age through our third-party provider Yoti, including verification results, IP address, and device identifier. This data is retained for compliance and audit purposes)
Profile Pictures
You have the option to upload and publicly display a profile picture image in our app and website. By uploading a profile picture to Jupi, you provide explicit consent for your image to be publicly displayed within the app (and any other web based platforms connected with the app) and agree to the terms outlined in this privacy policy. Profile pictures are used exclusively for enhancing user experience by enabling personal identification and interaction within the app. We do not use profile pictures for any other purpose without obtaining additional, explicit consent from the user.
Profile pictures and any images you upload to the app may be stored on our servers or those of our third-party service providers, with whom we have agreements to ensure the protection of your data in line with this privacy policy. The names of such third-party services and links to their privacy policies will be provided upon request.
Access, Sharing, and Rights: Profile pictures are accessible to other users of the app to facilitate interaction and community building. We do not share profile pictures with third parties for marketing purposes without users' explicit consent. Users have the right to remove, replace, or request deletion of their account along with their profile picture at any time through the app's settings or by contacting support at jupi@jupi.chat.
Profile pictures are publicly visible by anyone who visit the app or our website for as long as the user's account remains active and are deleted or anonymized upon account deletion, except as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
By using this app, you verify and accept that you are at least 18 years old to use the app and upload a profile picture.
We reserve the right to update the use and handling of profile pictures in accordance with changes to our app or legal requirements. Users will be notified of any significant changes and, where required, must provide consent for new uses of their profile pictures.

Legitimate Reasons for Processing Your Personal Information
We only collect and use your personal information when we have a legitimate reason for doing so. In which instance, we only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide our services to you.

- Use a mobile device or web browser to access our content
- Contact us via email, social media, or on any similar technologies
- When you mention us on social media
We may collect, hold, use, and disclose information for the following purposes, and personal information will not be further processed in a manner that is incompatible with these purposes:
- to provide you with our app and platform's core features and services
- to contact and communicate with you
- for technical assessment, including to operate and improve our app, associated applications, and associated social media platforms
We may combine voluntarily provided and automatically collected personal information with general information or research data we receive from other trusted sources. For example, If you consent to us accessing your social media profiles, we may combine information sourced from those profiles with information received from you directly to provide you with an enhanced experience of our app and services.
Security of Your Personal Information
When we collect and process personal information, and while we retain this information, we will protect it within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.
Although we will do our best to protect the personal information you provide to us, we advise that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and no one can guarantee absolute data security.
You are responsible for selecting any password and its overall security strength, ensuring the security of your own information within the bounds of our services. For example, ensuring you do not make your personal information publicly available via our platform.
How Long We Keep Your Personal Information
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need to. This time period may depend on what we are using your information for, in accordance with this privacy policy. For example, if you have provided us with personal information such as an email address when contacting us about a specific enquiry, we may retain this information for the duration of your enquiry remaining open as well as for our own records so we may effectively address similar enquiries in future. If your personal information is no longer required for this purpose, we will delete it or make it anonymous by removing all details that identify you.
However, if necessary, we may retain your personal information for our compliance with a legal, accounting, or reporting obligation or for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific, or historical research purposes or statistical purposes.
Public Content: Any content you made publicly available on the Service — including AI Characters, images, and descriptions — is considered part of the Jupi platform. Upon account deletion, public content is retained and attributed to a generic "Deleted User" identity with no link to your personal information. This content is not subject to deletion requests, as described in our Terms of Service. All personal information associated with your account (profile, email, profile picture, etc.) is permanently deleted.
Safety Records: Content blocked by our safety and moderation systems is retained indefinitely, linked to the associated account, for user safety, abuse prevention, and compliance with applicable laws. These records are not anonymized or deleted when an account is deleted, and are not subject to erasure or correction requests.
Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties
We may disclose personal information to:
- a parent, subsidiary, or affiliate of our company / developer
- third-party service providers for the purpose of enabling them to provide their services, including (without limitation) IT service providers, data storage, hosting and server providers, analytics, error loggers, debt collectors, maintenance or problem-solving providers, professional advisors, and payment systems operators
- our employees, contractors, and/or related entities
- our existing or potential agents or business partners
- credit reporting agencies, courts, tribunals, and regulatory authorities, in the event you fail to pay for goods or services we have provided to you
- courts, tribunals, regulatory authorities, and law enforcement officers, as required by law, in connection with any actual or prospective legal proceedings, or in order to establish, exercise, or defend our legal rights
- third parties, including agents or sub-contractors, who assist us in providing information, products, services, or direct marketing to you
- third parties to collect and process data
- an entity that buys, or to which we transfer all or substantially all of our assets and business

- OpenAI and OpenAI API (chat, moderation, and content safety)
- Google Ads and Google Tag Manager (conversion tracking and advertising attribution)
- Other AI language model service provider(s) (The LLM providers we use change from time to time, feel free to reach out to us to learn more about this.)
Your Rights and Controlling Your Personal Information
Your choice: By providing personal information to us, you understand we will collect, hold, use, and disclose your personal information in accordance with this privacy policy. You do not have to provide personal information to us, however, if you do not, it may affect your use of our app or the products and/or services offered on or through it.
Information from third parties: If we receive personal information about you from a third party, we will protect it as set out in this privacy policy. If you are a third party providing personal information about somebody else, you represent and warrant that you have such person's consent to provide the personal information to us.
Marketing permission: If you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for direct marketing purposes, you may change your mind at any time by contacting us using the details below.
Access: You may request details of the personal information that we hold about you.
Correction: If you believe that any information we hold about you is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading, please contact us using the details provided in this privacy policy. We will take reasonable steps to correct any information found to be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or out of date.
Safety Records Exception: Rights to correction or erasure do not apply to records retained for user safety, abuse prevention, or compliance with legal obligations. See Safety Records above.
Non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your rights over your personal information. Unless your personal information is required to provide you with a particular service or offer (for example serving particular content to your device), we will not deny you goods or services and/or charge you different prices or rates for goods or services, including through granting discounts or other benefits, or imposing penalties, or provide you with a different level or quality of goods or services.
Notification of data breaches: We will comply with laws applicable to us in respect of any data breach.
Complaints: If you believe that we have breached a relevant data protection law and wish to make a complaint, please contact us using the details below and provide us with full details of the alleged breach. We will promptly investigate your complaint and respond to you, in writing, setting out the outcome of our investigation and the steps we will take to deal with your complaint. You also have the right to contact a regulatory body or data protection authority in relation to your complaint.
Unsubscribe: To unsubscribe from our email database or opt-out of communications (including marketing communications), please contact us using the details provided in this privacy policy, or opt-out using the opt-out facilities provided in the communication. We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity.
AI Training and User Data
Third-Party AI Services: Jupi utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies powered by third-party service providers, listed under the "Acknowledgement" section in our Terms of Use. These technologies are used to enhance various features within the app, such as AI characters and chatbots.
Data Shared with AI Providers: To provide our services, we may share specific types of user data with third-party AI service providers including, but not limited to, Google, OpenRouter, and OpenAI. This shared data may include: your voice recordings (used for speech-to-text features), photos you share within the app, text inputs from your chat conversations, and camera feed data when using the livestreaming feature. These providers process this data according to their respective privacy policies and terms of service.
Data Handling by Third Parties: While Jupi facilitates the interaction between users and these AI technologies, Bots and Bolts Inc. does not control, influence, or oversee the training methods, data usage, or algorithms of these third-party services. The data you provide may be processed by these third-party providers as part of their operational procedures, which are governed by their own terms and policies.
User Responsibility: Users are encouraged to review the terms and policies of our third-party AI providers to understand how their data may be used and how these services operate. It is important to recognize that these providers may use your inputs in ways that Jupi does not govern or dictate.
No AI Training by Jupi: Jupi does not use user data to train AI models or enhance AI algorithms internally. Any interaction that leads to data processing is handled by our third-party providers under their own regulatory and privacy frameworks. Some of these third-party providers may use your data to train their AI models, but we do not have control over this and cannot be held responsible for their actions.
Transparency and Compliance: Jupi commits to transparency in our use of third-party AI technologies and ensures compliance with applicable legal standards regarding data privacy and user rights. However, Bots and Bolts Inc. is not responsible for the data handling practices of third-party AI services.
Conversation Monitoring
We log and retain messages and other content you exchange with AI characters in our app. Automated systems, and where necessary authorized personnel, may access this data for the following purposes:
- providing and operating product features that depend on past conversations (including conversation history, memory, search, recommendations, and personalization);
- debugging, monitoring service health, and improving the quality and reliability of the user experience;
- product analytics, A/B testing, and informing product decisions;
- detecting and preventing harm, abuse, threats, child sexual abuse material, exploitation of minors, self-harm, or other safety risks;
- enforcing our Terms of Use and content policies;
- complying with applicable laws and regulations and responding to lawful requests from authorities (including age-related, online safety, and AI companion laws such as California SB 243 and the New York AI Companion Models Law);
- responding to user reports and conducting abuse investigations;
- improving our safety classifiers and moderation systems.
Records may be retained for the period required to fulfill these purposes, including legal and regulatory retention obligations, and may be retained after account deletion where required by law or for safety reasons. See Safety Records for related retention rules.
Security and Data Protection
We take reasonable steps to protect user data, but we cannot guarantee complete security. In the event of a security breach or exposure of credentials (such as API keys), we will take prompt action to mitigate risks. Users acknowledge that they are responsible for protecting their access credentials and that we are not liable for damages caused by unauthorized access resulting from exposed keys or credentials.
Business Transfers
If we or our assets are acquired, or in the unlikely event that we go out of business or enter bankruptcy, we would include data, including your personal information, among the assets transferred to any parties who acquire us. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any parties who acquire us may, to the extent permitted by applicable law, continue to use your personal information according to this policy, which they will be required to assume as it is the basis for any ownership or use rights we have over such information.
Limits of Our Policy
Our app may link to external sites that are not operated by us. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and policies of those sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy practices.
Changes to This Policy
At our discretion, we may change our privacy policy to reflect updates to our business processes, current acceptable practices, or legislative or regulatory changes. If we decide to change this privacy policy, we will post the changes here.
If required by law, we will get your permission or give you the opportunity to opt in to or opt out of, as applicable, any new uses of your personal information.
